"Gimme Gimme" and "Sexy Eyes" reached No. 14 and No. 6 in Australia, respectively, and they were the only two significant charting hits in that country. Later singles include "Think of You", "Close To You", "Last Christmas", "Gimme Gimme" and "Sexy Eyes". "The single "Another Day" did also well in number of other markets where it entered the Top-10 including UK, Switzerland, Norway and her native Denmark. While "Saturday Night" is considered the biggest hit by Whigfield, her single "Another Day" also managed to peak at No.3 in Italy where she was then based. It was also the single which prevented Wet Wet Wet from reaching a record-equalling 16th week at number 1 in the UK. It hit the Top-5 in majority of European markets, and even managed to top the charts in Germany, UK, Switzerland. It didn't take long for the single to become a Europe-wide hit at the end of 1994 and the beginning of 1995.

Her single "Saturday Night" entered the Top-5 in Italy as well as in other European markets in October 1995. Sannie Charlotte Carlson rose to prominence when she signed to Italian based record company X-Energy. The name "Whigfield" is a tribute to her piano teacher. When she met the producer Larry Pignagnoli, who also produces Benny Benassi, Katla, In-Grid, Ally & Jo, Ann Lee, Spagna, J.K., Dhany and others, the artist "Whigfield" was born. Before singing Sannie worked as a very successful model and studied music. She spent several years in Africa as a child before returning to her native country. Sannie Charlotte Carlson was born in Skælskør, Denmark. Singles from her following albums were also very popular across Europe and Asia in the mid '90s and were produced by Italian producer Larry Pignagnoli.

Sannie Charlotte Carlson (born 11 April 1970), best known as Whigfield and also as Naan, is a Danish born, Italian based Eurodance singer best known for the song "Saturday Night" which was a worldwide hit in 1994.

Sannie Carlson came in Montreal to promote the song and the album: every performance was lipsync (she apparently left the stage angered when the crowd of Club Dome complained about that - that was told to me by a regular client of that club back then). From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. It then crossed the Atlantic and started to get played in Canada. 'Saturday Night', the first single of Whigfield, went on to be a famous dance hit in Europe. Sannie Carlson, a young model, was hired to front the Whigfield project (it was nothing new: just business as usual for Larry Pignagnoli). How could someone just go in a library and hire a singer out of nowhere? It just doesn't make sense.

Very strange since nobody is allowed to talk in this kind of place. The story (reported in the Eurodance Encyclopedia by Karine Sanche) of how they apparently met is ridiculous: he said he met them in a library. Larry Pignagnoli also produced a 'duo' of singers called 'Ally & Joe' where he doubled the vocal tracks of Annerley Gordon and made the two girls lipsync to the specific parts. When the Whigfield project was created, Pignagnoli was already pulling the strings behind JK and Lalene (an obscure project which most probably featured the vocals of Annerley Gordon, credited for writing the lyrics). Numerous dance acts and DJ's used this system: Bass Bumpers also used the alias Vamoz ('In The Summer'), Peter Rauhofer used both Club 69 and Danube Dance for his projects with Kim Cooper. Another fruitful possibility with this way of work was the possibility to have many tracks on the charts without letting people know the production team was the same. This permitted Gordon to work with Larry Pignagnoli in many different projects, all of them fronted by different models so that the illusion of the 'perfect product' could make the records sell. The song 'Try Me Out', released in 1993, when on to be a hit single. Annerley Gordon was a session vocalist who had previously worked for Francesco Bontempi (Lee Marrow) under the alias of Charme. Whigfield was a project of Larry Pignagnoli, Davide Riva and Annerley Gordon. The final and most controversial lipsync project that I know about was the Whigfield project.
